Project Description
SpeechTimer is a presentation support app aimed at professionals, students, and public speakers looking to improve delivery through precise time management. The client approached Oodles Platform to rebuild their MVP with improved performance and user experience. The requirement was to develop a mobile app that offers section-wise speech tracking and customizable alerts. A complete mobile development solution using Android and Xcode was delivered.
Scope Of Work
The project aimed to transform the client’s MVP into a reliable, user-friendly presentation timer. Areas of work included real-time speech tracking, segmenting speeches, customizable alerts, and performance across devices. Key requirements were audio-visual cues, smartwatch integration, and support for background mode. The app needed to deliver smooth functionality and consistent feedback during practice and live delivery.
Our Solution
The development began by replicating the client’s existing prototype, then enhancing its capabilities with native mobile technologies—Android (Kotlin) and iOS (Xcode/Swift). The app allows users to break their speech into segments, assign specific durations, and set personalized alerts using sound, color, and vibration. These alerts work seamlessly even when the app is in the background or the screen is locked.
To extend usability, smartwatch integration was included, enabling presenters to receive subtle reminders without needing to check their phones. The interface was designed for clarity and speed, supporting quick edits and smooth transitions between speech stages.
Performance across Android and iOS devices was tested rigorously to ensure consistent behavior. The result is a distraction-free, dependable speech timer that enhances presentation confidence and accuracy.
