Project Description

SunnySide aimed to build a proof of concept (POC) for immersive VR streaming that transmits camera feeds to multiple Oculus devices over a shared network. The project focused on minimizing latency, optimizing local streaming, and enabling synchronized viewing across devices. Oodles delivered a full-stack solution to support cross-platform VR media delivery, providing a technical foundation for future scalable development in immersive media experiences.

Scope Of Work

The client needed a functional proof of concept for VR media streaming from a single camera source to multiple Oculus headsets within the same network. The objective was to reduce latency, ensure a smooth stream experience, and build necessary infrastructure for desktop and headset integration. This required a local backend server, Oculus-compatible app, and packaging for easy deployment. The client also requested proper setup documentation, deliverables tracking, and regular code quality audits as part of the development process.

Our Solution

To meet the client’s immersive media streaming goals, Oodles implemented the following solutions:

  • Set up core architecture for frontend, backend, and DevOps workflows
  • Developed a backend streaming app to efficiently serve local camera feeds
  • Built a cross-platform media player for Oculus and web to access stream URLs
  • Packaged the backend as a desktop executable for easy deployment
  • Delivered an installable Oculus app with default stream support
  • Shared codebase, setup docs, and sprint-wise deliverables with the client
  • Ensured code quality via bi-weekly reviews and SonarQube analysis
  • Maintained transparency with daily updates, weekly demos, and ISO-compliant practices
