ChatBucket approached Oodles to strengthen its real-time livestreaming experience across Android and iOS. The project focused on reliable broadcaster publishing, viewer playback, stream lifecycle management, socket-based livestream spaces, and recovery from mobile interruptions such as backgrounding, screen locks, incoming calls, and network disruptions.
The scope covered backend livestream lifecycle management, Android broadcaster and viewer applications, and native iOS streaming modules. Key areas included OME connection handling, stream reconnection, delayed stream closure, socket-based membership synchronization, viewer-count accuracy, audio-focus management, background streaming, and device-level testing across real-world interruption scenarios.
Oodles implemented a resilient livestreaming architecture designed to maintain stream continuity across mobile interruptions.
Stream Lifecycle: Improved publish, disconnect, and go-live flows with delayed stream closure to prevent temporary disconnections.
