Speed Camera Radar approached Oodles to design the UI/UX for their driving safety application, which transforms a smartphone into a real-time road assistant. The app required a design built around the constraints of active driving — minimal interaction, instant readability, and a smart alert system that keeps drivers informed without demanding their attention.

 
Scope Of Work

Oodles was engaged to design the full UI/UX for Speed Camera Radar across its core feature set, with a primary focus on the European market and compliance with local speed detection and signage formats. The scope covered GPS-based alert interfaces, fixed and mobile speed camera notifications, community-powered hazard updates, voice warning integration, and customisable map views. Designing for an active driving context required particular attention to glanceability, minimal interaction patterns, and a distraction-free visual hierarchy throughout.
Our Solution

Oodles delivered a comprehensive UI/UX design for Speed Camera Radar, purpose-built for clarity, speed, and driver control across four distinct user segments:

 

  • Alert and Detection Interface: Real-time alert screens for fixed and mobile speed cameras, hazard zones, and speed limit changes were designed for instant readability at a glance, with visual hierarchy prioritising the most time-sensitive information at all times.
  • Community and Map Experience: Community update flows and customisable map views were designed to surface user-powered hazard reports and route-relevant data without cluttering the driving interface or requiring manual navigation mid-journey.
  • Voice and Hands-Free Interaction: Voice warning flows were integrated as a primary interaction layer, ensuring drivers could receive alerts and act on information without taking their eyes off the road.
  • European Market Compliance: The design accounted for EU-specific speed detection formats, local signage conventions, and regional compliance requirements, ensuring the app felt native and trustworthy to its primary audience.

Speed Camera Radar's UI/UX delivers a driving experience where safety information is always present, never intrusive, and exactly where a driver needs it to be.
